There is probably nothing more bothersome than a computer that is so slow it seems like it just can't get out of its own way! I've seen nice calm, normal folks just about ready to blow a cork because their computer was taking hours to do a job that should take only a few minutes.
To me, it is understandable to be impatient with a slow computer. After all, they are supposed to be fast; aren't they? You would figure if you got a modern day computer, even if only somewhat up-to-date, one of the advantages would be that it would be fast. And at one time not that long ago, it probably was. So, what happened? Why suddenly has this modern day marvel for super fast communication become slower than molasses?
So, is it possible to get its speed back? Can this computer once again operate at full speed? If so, how can you go about getting it back to full speed? Well, you probably can and in the next few paragraphs I will explain how.
Let's Talk About Malware
Step number one in this two step process is to make sure you are spyware free. Spyware has the ability and often the intent to slow your computer down to a crawl. Right now I hear a lot of you say, "but I already have a spyware cleaner or some such thing and my computer is free of that stuff." This is good, just keep reading.
Some of you will not have a spyware cleaner installed but you will have a virus scanner on your computer. This is okay as spyware cleaners and virus scanners basically perform the same function. The viruses the virus scanners get rid of and the spyware the spyware cleaners get rid of all fall under the category of malware or malicious software. Both virus scanners and spyware cleaners clean malware out of your computer. Usually, neither type of cleaner will miss any kind of parasite.
So, what all this means is the first step to getting your computer back up on its fleet feet again is to give it a virus or spyware scan. Wouldn't it be nice if this was your only problem? It could be. A virus and/spyware infection would slow your computer down there is no doubt about that! Of course, if you don't have a spyware or virus cleaner, it's time to go look for one because this could be your problem.
Sadly, there are times a computer is running so badly it is not capable of getting on-line so you could download a spyware cleaner. If this is the case with your computer you will have to bring it to a repair shop unless you are capable of cleaning out the malware on your computer from another source.
Spyware Free?
If you are able to a run a spyware or virus scan and you find you are free of these parasites, this is fine and it brings us to this conclusion. Probably, you have corruption in the registry. With a slow computer you always have to get rid of the malware first because a registry cleaner won't. Then, after you are sure you have no parasites and your computer is still crawling along, it is time to do a registry scan. This is easy and it's free. Just go on-line if you can and do a registry scan.
Even if your computer is functioning so slowly it just barely makes it to the Internet, go to the site of a reputable registry cleaner and get a free scan. All good registry cleaning software programs offer free registry scans. The beauty of this is that after the free scan you will know if you have a lot of registry corruption and if you do this would be telling you it is registry corruption that is slowing down your computer.
If it does turn out you have a corrupt registry, you will have to pay for a license so you can remove the corruption. The incense fee is a yearly charge and it is dirt cheap when compared to leaving your computer barely operable.
Unfortunately, a spyware cleaner or virus scanner just doesn't make it as our only tool needed to keep our PC's functioning these days. For many reasons, the registry takes a lot of abuse on today's computer and so we need to do frequent cleanings to keep it in good shape. One final tip is this. The best registry cleaners around also come with optimizing software which will possibly make your computer even faster than it has ever been. - 16928
