Seiko Divers Watch - Quality Time Pieces for an Aquatic Adventure

By Ed J Price

Dive watches are made to endure almost any given situation of the deep. Specially engineered time pieces are required for dives up to 900+ feet to endure the high pressures present. Many solutions have been come up with by several manufacturers to counteract this problem. In spite of this, one watch that has stood out from the rest is the Seiko dive watch. Seiko was formed in 1881 with only a single shopkeeper, since then Seiko has become synonymous with high quality watches.

Seiko Kinetic Divers Watch

Seiko has to its benefit the fact that it produces everything, from the oil and face decor, to the gears and watch casing. In 1986, Seiko developed what is now known as the Kinetic watch line. The principle of operation is to power the watch from the natural movement of the wearer. One such mechanism is a pendulum that rotates with walking, as it rotates, it spins a pinion gear upwards of a hundred thousand RPM, which in turn will charge a battery that powers the watch.

Seiko also developed the technology for their watches to be able to descend underwater. The Seiko divers watch combines a stainless steel body construction with special seals and gaskets which withstand the conditions present at certain depths when diving. These watches can weigh up to half a pound but can endure depths of approximately 300 meters.

Dive Watch Technology

For a dive watch, there are many elements that come into play. These include the crystal covering the dials, the strap, and the crown and so on. The watch also needs to handle differing atmospheric conditions that include helium environment and more. These watches also need to legible because light conditions quickly deteriorate once the diver reaches any real depths.

Once basic elements are met, it is all about the style and appearance of the watch. Seiko has been at the forefront of new technologies and designs. Some of the newest technologies for watches were first pioneered by Seiko. Their best watches for divers are part of the Seiko Professional Diver Collection. These Seiko dive watches can handle at least 200 meters and can handle saturation diving. These watches feature Seiko made special gaskets. One of the forerunners of the line is the Seiko Marine Master.

The Marine Master

The Marine Master is able to go to depths of 300 meters. It has rubber straps to reduce its weight. Visibility is possible at near low light levels with the watches lumibrite features. The face of the watch is made of a crystal protection known as Hardlex. This also has an anti reflective coating. To ensure a super tough seal against pressure and water, the crown can be tightened. All in all, the watch is well liked with nothing but rave reviews and its reliable timing and accuracy.

Seiko Black Monster

The Seiko Black Monster is another alternative. It is considered to be the best dive watch by many people. It is an everlasting piece of ingenuity that continues to stand the test of time. - 16928
