The magic of golf and few of its essentialities

By Kevin Gillett

Golf is an amazing game. Lush green fairway surrounding shining lakes look like an ideal place to be in. it brings joy to those who see and those who play. Amateurs think that golfing is easy. Its only a matter of club impacting the ball. They miss out on so many other imperatives. They get to know it when they hit their first shot. They understand the technicality when the shot goes down the drain completely.

As a player, you have got to cure three major defects that are there when you are a novice. These are grip, slices and swings. A poor grip reduces wrist action and takes away from the control over the shot. Poor swing means that you are most likely to miss on the trajectory. It will create weaker, misdirected shot. Similarly, the ball feels a false spin when slice is being introduced into the shot. Moreover, the wrong rotation of the arm hinge causes the shot to go somewhere else than desired.

For the grip, it is advised to use the fingers as much as possible. Palm based grip is undesirable. For effective swing, it is advised to be in complete control of body balance and relax your body before the shot. It is also advisable to pause at the top of the backswing. This automatically strengthens the downswing. To cut down on slices, the head should be in the line of the spine and the chin should look up through the nose while hitting the shot.

Golf balls have their own dynamics. The aerodynamics involved in the movement of a golf ball is due to the dimples in it. The dimples create a lift when a golfer uses spins on a golf ball. (Only the very best golfers can give a proper spin). The initial Gutta Percha ball did not go the distance. This led to a belief that if the balls were scored or marked, it could add to the distance they traveled on the fairway.

Thus came many kinds of surface designs. Today the dimpled golf balls are made of rubber core wound around a rubber thread. It has dimpled enamels for greater surface drag and friction. A marked ball has a greater separation drag. This is the change of pressure flow once an impact is being made by the club on the ball. A graphical illustration can let you know how it is very different from the one made in case of mark less balls.

Another important part is the golf driver. It is the longest and the most expensive club that a golfer has. It is either made of titanium or steel. Again it has graphite or a steel shaft. It has the lowest loft among all the golf clubs and hence gives longer distance and smarter trajectory. Golf drivers club head size is standard, mid or oversized. Today, used golf drivers are available over many online retail stores at very reasonable prices. - 16928
