Why not try wearing a retro football shirt?

By Jay Wayne

Have you ever walked into a stadium in seeing a fan wearing a shirt of your team that was 20 years old and wish to you could have one? Then you take a quick look at them and realize that they weren't even alive when that player played. They are more than likely wearing a retro football shirt and you can do the same.

Good or bad, when you go to a game, you're usually all decked out in your team's colors. When the team is playing good, shirts are flying off the shelves. When they are going bad, everyone kind of just makes do with what they have been wearing for years. As teams count on the income from selling their merchandise, they need to generate interest regardless of the product they are putting out on the field. The way to do that is to create a buzz about a new shirt today will be wearing and to start selling retro football shirts.

This was a marketing and data that came about several years ago and is actually quite brilliant. A team wears an older shirt for one game during a season and then they can sell it for the rest of the year. As most fans want to wear whatever the team is wearing, regardless of their play, they will run out and buy a ritual football shirt.

This is also a great idea as to generate interest of an older fan in purchasing in a new shirt. While they obviously will have the names of the current players on the back of them, they also feature the names of the players that ore the shirts when they were in style.

Lo and behold, the current team sports a jersey for one game that is a replica of the golden times. It presents a perfect opportunity for an old fan to get an upgraded version of the style of shirt they currently have in their closet.

Retro football shirts are also a great way for the current fans to get in touch with the past. As they do feature names and numbers of our heroes in past days, you can now have an authentic football shirt of a player that you would not normally be able to obtain. It is a way to solidify yourself as a true fan of the team.

It is common nowadays for teams to not only feature one era of prior years, but they will often wear football shirts of several different generations. In one season you may be treated to a retro football shirt of three different eras of players. These teams generate interest in their current team by reliving their past glories.

As you can see, it is quite easy to get caught up in the new craze of retro football shirts if you are a huge fan of your cities football team. If your team is currently struggling, these retro football shirts are even more appealing as you can wear something representing the days when your franchise dominated the league. We all know that a true fan supports their team whether they are playing good or bad, but having a jersey of the glory days makes dealing with the current losing streak a little bit easier. - 16928
