One way links helps you too much

By reklicom

Resist the temptation to put your name and Web site link on every possible site. This will not give you the results you are looking for, which is reaching the portion of the population that will be sincerely interested in what your business can do for them.

Gaining links from directories can be a costly affair, however there are many free to list directories with high PR to get you started, but you may find to get top rankings you will have to also use some of the paid alternatives at some time.

What are one-way links? These are links that point to your website without your having to put a link on another's website. Formerly, people would trade links: "I will link to your website if you link to mine." Although this works to some extent, they balance each other out and aren't very effective. If your webesite features health insurance, you don't want to trade links with a site that features framing supplies.

Your Web site link can be listed in one of the available Web directories. Sites are listed according to their category for easier reference. DMOZ is one of the most popular Web directories, but it can take up to eighteen months for a new link entry to be listed.

Yahoo also offers a Web directory used by a large number of people. Take the time to research any Web directory that you are considering for your listing and make sure that it is a legitimate and trusted directory.

A listing in a directory that will list any Web site may degrade your business's reputation. Look at all the available categories within the directory and choose the category that most closely describes your business. This will increase the chances of your intended customer base finding your link.

Keyword phrases should be searched for at least 2000 times per month. In addition, these phrases should have a total number of search results less than 10,000. It is even better if the total number of results is less than 5,000.

Links from directories are loved by search engines because the directories rank well, have generally been around a while you have control of your anchor text so it isn't the same every time and you can make sure your keywords are right in there. - 16928
