Free Criminal Record Check - Protecting Your family is Important

By Greg Tredan

It is time to get serious for a minute. There is a story that I want to share with you about a family and it might shock you. However, it is important to know that all could have been prevented with a free criminal record check.

The first story took place in a nice smaller town with a family that consisted of a dad, a mom, and 3 children ages 9, 6, and 2. They were all three little girls and they were the apple of their fathers eye.

The dad was a business man and was due to take a 2 week trip for his company. His wife was planning to go along so they were going to get a nanny to watch the children for two weeks. They put an ad in the paper and did a few interviews. They chose a middle aged woman with a glowing resume and a great personality.

Off they went to spend time on the beach and in meetings. They checked in with neighbors and the nanny while they were gone and everything seemed just fine. When the arrived home their little 6 year old was crying so hard her face was beat red. It took a little while to get her to open up, but when she did the mom found out that she had been molested by the nanny.

Later the couple found out that the nanny they had hired was a registered sex offender with a histor of abuse and violence. They had no idea about this and it was already too latel Had they gotten a free criminal record check done they could have prevented this and kept their daughters from being hurt.

You should know that doing a free check for criminal records is incredibly time consuming, though. It will take you the better part of a month to complete the check. There is a better option that is quite inexpensive and will save you a lot of time. You can use an online database to do your search.

All you have to do is have the name, social security number, and birth date of the person. These should all be standard when hiring someone anyway. You will probably want them to sign a release form allowing you to do the check as well.

It is also important that you understand the law when doing a criminal background check. You are required to share anything that you find with the person you did the check on, if they ask you. They probably already know what you will find, so chance are they will not even ask you. - 16928
