Florida Teen Auto Insurance -- Safety And Cheaper Rates

By Chimezirim Odimba

Teen drivers are not good risks to any Florida insurer. They are known to have more crashes than every other age group combined and many parents would be happy if they accept to NOT drive. For parents who really do have such strong control over their kids, it may work.

It could be very depressing for a child to be the only one among peers who is yet to start driving. So what can you do to both keep your teen safer and lower the typically high car insurance premium associated with teen drivers? Following are suggestions that will be of great help whether you're in Florida or not...

Most teens will show you they are adults once it has to do with privileges. Nevertheless, if you want to help your teenager really grow up, let them know that with every privilege come some responsibilities.

Make them pay their auto insurance premium themselves or at least contribute a sizeable chunk. Whatever suggestions you make thereafter that will help reduce what they pay will be more easily accepted because they're the ones paying and they will also be the ones to benefit from lower Florida car insurance rates.

Your teen driver would be safer and ultimately attract lower rates for their Florida car insurance policy if they do the following...

1) Don't allow them to drive in the company of their peers unless you or an adult you can trust is in the car with them.

2) It's important for your teen's safety that he/she does not drive in the night. And, where it becomes inevitable, go over things they must bear in mind.

Most accidents happen between 9.00pm and 2.00am.

3) If they drink then they must not drive. Take note that to be on the safe side they should know that they are not allowed to drive if they take so much as a sip of alcoholic beverage.

4) Let your teen know that they shouldn't race on the highway and let them know the risk they run if they do.

They should obey speed limits and traffic laws.

5) They must tell you where they intend to drive to with their cars. It may be hard sometimes but there are place where your teen is better off using public transport.

These all presume that you already have great communication with your teenager. Nevertheless you can lower your teen's rates by getting and comparing quotes. - 16928
