The Board Short As The Ultimate Beachwear

By James McFadden

Beach wear has seen consistent use of board shorts by everyone. They are also used in other sports and even in homes and casual getups. Similar to bermudas, they are often slight baggy, seamless and very comfortable.

Extending beyond normal beach wear, board shorts have been adopted by people living in warmer weather as part of their daily attire. The baggy design and material used lend comfort to the wearer with airy internals. This is also partly why they are now mandatory for all water sports fans, as they dry extremely fast.

Surfers and swimmers are not the only ones who prefer them. There is increasing sight of board shorts being worn regularly by fighters in martial arts. These sports require wide ranging movements, and they can be supported by wearing them.

Adjustable waist ties and comfort flys are regular features of board shorts. They are also very easy to wash with a simple machine and tumble cold dry. In terms of designs, most come in funky and colorful artwork that promote surf culture.

Paddle shorts are another form that prevent friction injuries due to high contact water sports. A layer of durable water repellant is over used both internally and externally. This protects sportsmen like paddlers and canoeists from suffering wear and tear due to the nature of their sports.

Other popular materials that are now part of the manufacturing process include Todos Twill polyester and polyester supersuede. The latter is fast becoming an industry standard due to its qualities and advantages.

There is little surprise with most surfers' choice of brands in Billabong, Hurley and Roxy. These are all reputable companies with designs for both men and women. There is also a market for plus size individuals who enjoy the comfortable shorts.

Board shorts are now widely available through the Internet. The low overhead allows them to be sold at much more attractive prices than in retail stores. This has continued to contribute to their increasing popularity and use. - 16928
